THE LITTLE EVERYDAY THINGS

Beautiful jewellery deserves thoughtful care.

Small, considered habits can help protect the finish and setting of the pieces you wear often. Take jewellery off before exercise, strenuous activity or anything likely to cause a knock. Put it on after perfume, hairspray and cosmetics, and keep it away from household cleaning products.

  • Remove jewellery before swimming, hot tubs or saltwater.
  • Avoid wearing pieces where they may catch, pull or be knocked.
  • Let fragrance and skincare settle before putting jewellery on.
  • Wipe pieces gently with a soft, clean cloth after wearing.

CARE BY MATERIAL

Every material has its own character.

The right care depends on the metal, stone, finish and construction. When you are unsure, ask us before cleaning.

Gold jewellery

Clean gently when appropriate and store pieces separately to help avoid scratches. Limiting contact with chemicals helps protect the surface.

White gold & platinum

Both can show natural surface wear over time. Rhodium plating on white gold may gradually wear and may need renewal.

Sterling silver

Silver can tarnish with exposure to air and moisture. A suitable silver polishing cloth and dry storage can help care for it.

Gold-plated jewellery

The plated layer can wear with abrasion, chemicals and prolonged moisture. Handle gently and keep it dry when not being worn.

Diamond jewellery

Gentle cleaning may help remove everyday residue. Check claws and settings regularly, and have any looseness assessed by a professional.

Gemstones & delicate pieces

Pearls, opals, emeralds, treated stones and delicate constructions can need specialist advice. Avoid assuming a general cleaning method is suitable.

GENTLE CLEANING

A gentle approach makes all the difference.

For some durable jewellery in sound condition, lukewarm water with a little mild soap and a very soft brush may be appropriate. Rinse carefully and dry with a soft cloth, taking care not to let a piece slip into a sink.

This method is not suitable for every stone, finish or construction. Avoid toothpaste, bleach, harsh chemicals, abrasive polishing and universal soaking. Ultrasonic and steam cleaning are not suitable for all gemstones. If in doubt, speak to us first.

A PLACE FOR EVERY PIECE

A beautiful place for everything.

A little thought when you put jewellery away can help protect it between wears. Soft-lined compartments keep pieces apart; fasten chains and store them separately to help prevent tangles. Keep delicate gemstones in their own space, away from moisture, excess heat and harder pieces that may scratch them. Check clasps, settings and surfaces before wearing and again when you take a piece off.
